1 min read

PUTRAJAYA, June 13 — The Election Commission (EC) clarified today that Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections will not be held simultaneously due to logistical demands and preparation needs.

Polls

EC chairman Ramlan Harun said Negeri Sembilan’s sudden assembly dissolution left insufficient time for readiness, noting the state only had ballot boxes available. Johor voters will cast ballots on July 11, while Negeri Sembilan’s election is set for August 1. The EC estimates combined costs at RM167.4 million. In 2022, BN dominated Johor with 40 seats, while PH led Negeri Sembilan with 17 seats.
