KL Police to Revamp Raid SOPs After Evidence Flaws in Gay Sauna Bust

1 min read

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus revealed plans to overhaul raid procedures following a botched operation at a Chow Kit health club suspected of hosting illicit gay activities. The November 28 raid netted 208 people, including 17 civil servants, plus condoms and sex-related items, yet critical evidential gaps may render charges—including sodomy—unprosecutable.

“We cannot afford arrests that lead nowhere,” Fadil stressed, emphasizing strict legal elements required for such cases. Authorities are now coordinating with local councils and religious departments to permanently shutter the two-storey premises, which had operated discreetly for up to ten months.
