Form Six students across Malaysia will begin receiving a RM2,500 living allowance from the first semester of next year, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek has announced.
The assistance, introduced under Budget 2027, is intended to help students manage education-related expenses and strengthen support for those pursuing pre-university studies through the Form Six system. Payments will begin after student registration has been completed.
Budget 2027 Aid to Be Distributed Across Three Form Six Semesters
Fadhlina said the allowance would be paid in stages over the three semesters of study, with students receiving approximately RM800 per semester. She said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to supporting students’ learning needs and improving the quality of the Malaysian Higher School Certificate, or STPM, programme.
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the assistance while presenting Budget 2027 in Parliament on October 9. The allowance is intended to match the support provided to matriculation students and is expected to benefit about 90,000 Form Six students nationwide.
The measure was also among 12 resolutions raised at the Pra-University Madani Congress in Klang in August. The rollout is expected to provide additional financial support as students continue their pre-university education.
About 90,000 Form Six students are expected to benefit from the RM2,500 living allowance announced under Budget 2027.
