A netizen tweeted that back in 1976 he was making RM1,350 and using an inflation calculator for Ringgit in 2022 it is said to be worth RM5,000. He then further stated that it is understandable why many youths in Malaysia are angry.
Others claim that back then there were lesser graduates, hence the pay would’ve been more competitive. Netizens also mentioned that the cost to live comfortably in Klang Valley is about RM5,000 for a single person nowadays.
Some of the youths mentioned that they need to move to other countries and get better pay. If this trend continues, Malaysia may face a shortage of workforce in many sectors. Currently we are already facing that in the F&B industry for the same exact reason.
