At just 25, Cody Kuebler has transformed a childhood lawn‑mowing gig into a multimillion‑dollar landscaping company. He began at age 11, charging $25 per lawn with a push mower, later expanding by hiring friends and adding snow removal.
After his parents’ divorce and a move to Des Moines, he rebuilt his customer base from scratch.
From Lawns to Millions: Cody Kuebler’s Journey
By high school, Kuebler explored diesel mechanics and sales but realized his true passion was running his own business. In 2020, he formally launched CLK Landscape Construction as an LLC.
The pandemic proved a turning point, with sales surging ninefold to $730,000 as homeowners invested in their lawns.
Kuebler reinvested earnings into heavy equipment, eventually amassing $2.5 million worth of trucks, loaders, and excavators.
Despite early setbacks—underbidding jobs, missed deadlines, and costly mistakes—his persistence paid off. Sales climbed to $1.1 million in 2023, $3.2 million in 2024, and $4.5 million last year.
Working six days a week, Kuebler earns a $100,000 salary plus bonuses, while his father now serves as operations manager. He admits the sacrifices are steep but says being his own boss makes it worthwhile. “Don’t be scared to fail,” he advises. “We fail a lot—but we keep pushing.”
