Government Ends Free Tolls During Festive Seasons

The government has decided to stop providing free tolls during festive seasons, as previously implemented. Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, stated this decision was made in a Cabinet meeting last year.

Instead, the government will adopt a more targeted approach. The details of this approach will be announced soon. Last year, the government spent around RM20 million per day on free tolls, amounting to RM80.07 million for Aidilfitri, RM42.31 million for Deepavali, RM41.21 million for Chinese New Year, and RM38 million for Christmas. The Christmas free toll was the last given by the government.
