High Court Now Grants One-Month Window for Government and Retired Judges to Settle Pension Dispute

The High Court has granted the government and 35 retired judges, including seven widows and their dependents, one month to reach an out-of-court settlement in a lawsuit concerning adjustments to pension increases and benefits since 2015.

Representing the plaintiffs, lawyer Christopher Leong stated Judge Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh allowed time for discussions without prejudice. The judge set March 5 for all parties to inform the court of the discussion’s outcome. 

In January 2022, 35 retired judges, including seven widows, sued the Prime Minister and the government for allegedly failing to adjust pensions and benefits received since 2015.
