KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) has cautioned that the upcoming DAP Special Congress could have far-reaching consequences for national stability and the economy. Huazong president Datuk Lim Kah Chuan said any referendum on whether DAP leaders should remain in the Cabinet or government-linked companies must be debated thoroughly.

He stressed that the Chinese community and private sector still rely on DAP’s representation, especially amid racial rhetoric, religious sensitivities, and economic challenges. Lim noted that 95% of Malaysia’s micro and medium enterprises are owned by Chinese business operators, who drive the economy. Any political shift affecting taxes, financing, or incentives could directly impact their livelihoods. He added that Huazong will respect DAP’s decision but urged careful consideration.
