A preliminary investigation into the December crash of a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 in South Korea revealed bird feathers and bloodstains in both engines. The plane, carrying 181 people, crash-landed after a bird strike involving migratory Baikal teals. It collided with a concrete barrier, killing 179 passengers and crew. The crash has prompted plans to replace such barriers with breakable structures. The captain had over 6,800 flight hours, while the first officer had 1,650 hours.
