LONDON, Oct 27 — Harry Kane completed a remarkable career milestone on Monday after winning the Ballon d’Or, becoming the first English player in 25 years to claim football’s most prestigious individual award.
The Bayern Munich and England striker earned the honour following a sensational 2025-26 campaign in which he scored 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions, helping Bayern secure a domestic league and cup double.
Kane also enjoyed success on the international stage, scoring six goals as England reached the World Cup semi-finals. His performances for club and country established him as one of the leading candidates for the award.
Kane Ballon d’Or Triumph
Speaking after receiving the accolade, the 33-year-old admitted he was almost speechless and thanked voters, fellow nominees, coaches, former club Tottenham Hotspur and his wife, Kate, for supporting him throughout his career.
Kane’s triumph marks the culmination of a journey that saw him overcome early setbacks, including several loan spells during his formative years at Tottenham, before developing into one of the world’s most complete forwards.
Often recognised for his consistency rather than flair, Kane’s relentless goalscoring, leadership and influence were impossible to ignore, making him a deserving winner of football’s top individual prize.
