Man Electrocuted While Allegedly Attempting to Steal Cable in Kapar
Klang Utara District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol said preliminary investigations indicated that the man may have been electrocuted while attempting to cut the cable.
He said the victim’s hand was still attached to the electrical cable when police arrived at the scene.
Police also recovered cable-cutting tools, a padlock and a motorcycle believed to belong to the deceased.
Ramsay said checks by corporate communications personnel and relevant technical agencies found that the incident did not involve installations belonging to the national electricity utility provider.
Instead, the electrocution occurred at a 33kV Link Box owned by a private company.
The deceased, who was a local resident from Kapar, was identified by his family. His remains were taken to Hospital Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Puncak Alam for a post-mortem examination.
Police have classified the case as sudden death while investigations remain ongoing.
