Malaysia Airports has announced a new standardised RM2 fee for e‑hailing vehicles entering Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, effective today. Previously, Terminal 1 charged RM3 and Terminal 2 RM2.16.
Vehicle Entries Drop 13.5% After RM2 Fee Revision
The move follows the introduction of upgraded e‑hailing facilities at Terminal 1 in August 2026, which have already improved operations.
Malaysia Airports said the standardised fee aims to simplify charges for passengers and drivers while ensuring smoother pick‑ups.
Within a month of implementation, 99.3% of drivers completed pick‑ups and exited within the 10‑minute grace period, compared to just 49.4% before. Daily vehicle entries also dropped by 13.5%, from 8,124 to 7,024.
The upgraded system at Terminal 1 includes Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) linked to Passenger Information Display Screens (PIDS), self‑service kiosks, dedicated waiting and pick‑up areas, and on‑ground staff.
It allows stricter monitoring to ensure only authorised e‑hailing vehicles use designated lanes. Peak‑hour processing capacity has more than doubled, from 302 to 660 vehicles per hour.
E‑hailing vehicles will continue to have a maximum of 10 minutes in the pick‑up area to keep traffic flowing and ensure bays remain available for other passengers.
