GEORGE TOWN, Sept 17 — DAP’s Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng has questioned the relevance of Umno in the Penang unity government, claiming the party has “no more value” while working with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and PAS.

Lim accused the state’s Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chow Kon Yeow of focusing on criticising him instead of addressing Umno’s attacks on PH, suggesting Chow feared Umno might quit the state administration. He clarified his remarks were directed at Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, whom he said lacked the courage to challenge PH to remove Umno from Penang’s government.

Lim warned that retaining Umno could harm public perception, stressing PH still commands a two‑thirds majority without Umno’s two assemblymen. He urged PH leaders to take a firm stand and convey their position to the coalition’s central leadership, cautioning that “the greatesPenangt enemy is the enemy within.”
