The Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) has confirmed that LED display screens installed around the town were hacked, causing pornographic images and videos to appear on them yesterday. The council said it will lodge a police report so the incident can be investigated further.
MPK said it is working with the system vendor to identify the cause, carry out recovery measures and strengthen the system’s security. It apologised for any inconvenience and concern among Kluang residents, and said it takes the matter seriously and condemns it strongly.
All Kluang LED Screens Switched Off After Cyber Intrusion
Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor confirmed receiving a report. He said MPK acted immediately by switching off all the LED screens.
The incident went viral on social media and WhatsApp groups after several screens were seen showing the content. Some residents in the town and lakeside area saw the displays, which raised concern. Locations reported include Dataran Tasik Kluang, Taman Intan in Kluang town and the route towards Kahang.
Residents called for a thorough investigation to identify those responsible. One netizen, Azman Halil, said it was embarrassing for a town branded “Kluang Bahagia” and urged action against those involved.
