Kuala Lumpur’s Flooding Issues

1 min read

Yesterday, a netizen posted a tweet with regards to the Kuala Lumpur floods and made a comparison between multiple Southeast Asian cities. The tweet consisted of saying that Kuala Lumpur has the highest elevation when compared to Manila, Singapore, Jakarta and Bangkok.

Furthermore, the netizen stated Kuala Lumpur has the least amount of rivers flowing through it compared to the other cities. They further enquired as to why Kuala Lumpur is then hit with the most floods if we have the least amount of rivers and the highest elevation when compared to the rest.

Other netizens mentioned that uncontrollable construction and water retention ponds turning into skyscraper condominiums are the cause of this mess. On top of the bad road infrastructures that cause massive unnecessary jams especially during the fasting month. Adding that on with the potential flooding hazards when it rains, is Kuala Lumpur still the once great city it was?
