While 40 laptops were recovered by the police, their source remains unclear. The thefts occurred between February and March 2023, exploiting lax security measures at NCCS. Fairuz and Shahrizal, exploiting their access, stole laptops stored in a locked office. They sold the stolen goods claiming they were surplus from a cancelled project.
