The older generation in Malaysia are constantly saying that our current generation is ultra liberal with the concerts we have these days. However, X users are combatting this claim by showing the abundance of magazines and other print items that show the contrary of these statements.
Malaysia in the 70s more liberal than today
An X user shared a magazine cover for Hari Raya in December 1970, and the cover photo shows a model who is wearing an outfit that would be deemed inappropriate today. Furthermore, in our older movies, they showed women to be less restricted with what they wore.
Some users asked if the original poster wants Malaysia to turn back to those days. However, the comment was made in lieu of religious fanatics claiming that the country’s majority religion is “endangered.” But, evidence shows that back in the 70s, we were more liberal than we are today.
