Malaysia’s identification system is being updated with three new cards set for rollout in June 2026. The National Registration Department will introduce enhanced versions of the MyKad, MyTentera and MyPoCA, each equipped with stronger security features to curb forgery and support digital verification. A new QR code will allow instant authentication, ensuring better protection of personal data.

The government said the redesign keeps the system aligned with current technology. During parliamentary debate, calls were made to consider adding Bumiputera status and religious information to prevent administrative disputes, but these proposals are still under review.
