KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 — Malaysia and Singapore will enhance cross-border taxi services beginning May 4, easing travel regulations and expanding operating areas for licensed taxis. The move follows agreements reached during the 12th Singapore-Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat in December 2025. In a joint statement, both transport ministries said the updated framework aims to improve passenger convenience while promoting fair competition among licensed operators. Under the new scheme, taxis can drop off passengers anywhere in Singapore and in selected Malaysian areas including Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai. Authorities will also strengthen enforcement efforts against illegal cross-border taxi operators and unlicensed transport activities.
