Malaysian Woman Now CALLING OUT Australian Jewellery Company for Appropriation

1 min read

Indian culture has been appropriated several times by western companies. Just recently, the traditional Indian outfit was copied and called the “Scandinavian” look. A Malaysian woman found this to be inappropriate and stated that the jewellery company is selling her cultural items at a higher price.

Apparently, the jewellery pieces cost around RM200 ish. However, the company did reach out to TikToker by commenting on her video stating that they did not know that it was a form of appropriation. They add that there were a number of girls interested with the designs of the item, hence why they are selling them now.

Furthermore, a Scandinavian girl adds that these types of companies are making her “howl” due to them using her people’s name for another culture’s items. The brand has since removed the product listing from their page.
