BALI, Sept 18 — A 40‑year‑old Malaysian woman, Siti Nuraini Rusidi, died while scuba diving at Crystal Bay, Nusa Penida, Bali, after encountering strong currents yesterday.

Local reports said Siti began her dive trip at 8am with a guide, boat captain and several divers. She was later swept away by powerful currents during the second dive. Witnesses said she panicked and struggled to breathe, causing her apparatus to dislodge. A divemaster surfaced with her, but she was semi‑conscious with foam from her mouth and nose. Despite continuous CPR by boat crew and divers, she was pronounced dead at a nearby clinic.

Her friend Firdaus, who was also diving, said Siti was healthy, cheerful and experienced, holding a Rescue Diver certification with over 50 logged dives. Her remains are at Bali Mandara Regional General Hospital for post‑mortem, with repatriation expected within several days. Police have recorded witness statements to aid investigations.
