New: Mother Backs Petition for Appeal in Bandar Utama School Stabbing Case

Petition

PETALING JAYA, Sept 18 — The mother of school stabbing victim Yap Shing Xuen has urged the public to support a petition calling on the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) to appeal the High Court’s decision in the Bandar Utama case.

In a Facebook post, Wong Lee Ping said her family respected the judicial process but felt powerless after losing their daughter. She stressed they were “neither judges nor prosecutors” and only hoped the proper legal process would be given serious consideration.

On Sept 14, the Shah Alam High Court acquitted a 15‑year‑old boy of murder on grounds of insanity, ordering his detention at a psychiatric hospital after testimony that he suffered from schizophrenia.

Wong appealed to legal professionals and the public to help spread the petition, saying the family wanted the matter reviewed under the law. “For Shing Xuen, and for every child who deserves to come home safely,” she said.
