In the video that was widely circulated in China, a young woman in a pink dress could be seen walking hand-in-hand with a man. The man’s outfit colour matched hers. While her dress became the subject of another viral moment, he got fired.
The footage started to gain further traction when online users identified the man to be Hu Jiyong. He is the executive director of China Huanqiu Contracting and Engineering (HQCEC). It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Petroleum Engineering.
Affair with Subordinate
The woman was identified to be one of his subordinates, Dong Sijin. She received an award previously from Hu. Well, not only Hu awarded her with something, but he also conquered her heart.
The pair had also been photographed in a meeting together. This was sufficient evidence the company used to fire Hu.
Dong’s dress became popular. An unexpected winner from the whole drama appeared to be the brand behind Dong’s pink dress, Si Bleu.
FIRED BUT INDIE FASHION VIRAL
The owner of the indie fashion brand Si Bleu told Shangyou News that they have sold around 4,000 pieces of the dress within a few days after the video went viral. While they went viral for a good reason, Hu was fired from his job at the prestigious government-linked company!
In comparison, only about 200 pieces have been sold since its launch two years ago. Customers who got their hands on the dress also took to social media to share their new outfits. This Xiaohongshu user who nicknamed it “the mistress dress”.
