MELAKA — A bus driver who is a single father and a woman who is a single mother were detained by the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) on suspicion of khalwat after they were found inside a bus in Jalan Hang Tuah early Saturday morning.

The pair, aged 37 and 46, were discovered sleeping side by side on bus seats during a raid at about 1.50am following a public tip-off. JAIM director Md. Azhan Samat said the couple failed to provide proof of a marital or mahram relationship. Both were taken to JAIM for documentation and further investigation.
