Malaysia’s Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry is encouraging hotels across the country to offer 23-hour stays as part of efforts to enhance visitor value and attract more tourists for the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, lawmakers were told in Parliament on 27 Feb 2026.

Malaysia pushes 23-hour hotel stays to enhance tourism appeal

The initiative aims to improve the competitiveness of the hospitality sector by allowing travellers to check in and out within a 23-hour window, giving them greater flexibility and perceived value for money.

Officials hope the extended stay option will attract more international visitors and support broader tourism objectives during Visit Malaysia 2026, which seeks to capitalise on growing global travel demand.
