PETALING JAYA: A minor earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale struck the Sri Medan area of Parit Sulong, Johor, at 6.39pm yesterday.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), via its myGempa portal, confirmed the quake occurred at a depth of 10km with its epicentre located at 1.95°N and 102.99°E. No damage or strong tremors have been reported.

The incident follows a string of recent tremors in Johor, particularly in Segamat, which has experienced multiple quakes since Aug 24. The series began with a 4.1-magnitude tremor that morning, followed by events measuring 3.2, 2.5, 3.4, 2.7 and 2.9 in subsequent days.
Separately, a 2.8-magnitude tremor was also recorded in Yong Peng, 28km northwest of Kluang, on Aug 24.
