KUALA LUMPUR, July 16, 2026 – The Sungai Perak northbound R&R has been temporarily closed, not for repairs, but for a monkey invasion. Years of motorists feeding these furry freeloaders have turned them into fearless “gang leaders” of the highway. Traders tried everything from replica snakes to loud shooing, but the monkeys now chase humans instead of running away.
Monkeys
Petrol station staff complain of rubbish raids, while fruit sellers say mangoes are practically monkey magnets. Groups of 20–30 primates regularly storm the rest stop, snatching food and threatening anyone who dares resist. PLUS Malaysia Berhad has launched a special operation to restore order.
