Where is the Multi-Lane Fast Flow system that will replace the palang?

1 min read

The Malaysian government plans to tackle toll booth congestion by introducing the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system, an automated gantry-based solution allowing vehicles to pass without stopping, similar to Singapore’s Electronic Road Pricing (ERP). The project, delayed due to concessionaire protests over a RM3.46 billion direct award, is now under review by the Public Accounts Committee. Some concessionaires, like PLUS Malaysia, have expressed readiness to independently adopt MLFF. Meanwhile, Singapore is upgrading its 1998 ERP system to ERP 2.0, using Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for enhanced traffic management and efficiency. New vehicles will adopt the updated system by 2024.
