Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been informed about the standard operating procedures governing the implementation of house arrest, according to the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department.
Its director-general, Datuk Zamri Misman, said the Prisons Department had provided Najib with details after receiving notification regarding the implementation of the arrangement.
Prisons Department Briefs Najib on House Arrest Procedures
Zamri said the SOP covers details relating to visits, security arrangements and monitoring of Najib’s movements. Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar had previously said the Prisons Department was expected to issue the procedures for the former Pekan MP’s house arrest.
The latest development provides further clarity on how the proposed arrangement would be managed if implemented.
However, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said declined to provide further details when questioned about the house arrest process.
She said the matter should instead be referred to Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh. Azalina also declined to comment on developments involving efforts to raise funds for Najib’s release.
