KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Oct 2026: A 49-year-old Malaysian pilot was among four individuals detained at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang in connection with a major drug trafficking investigation involving 521 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine seized in Laos.
The suspects, comprising the pilot, co-pilot and two female crew members, were arrested before their aircraft could depart for Manila. Bukit Aman confirmed that the pilot is a Malaysian citizen and that the aircraft involved is owned by a company under his control.
Meth Trafficking
Authorities are investigating alleged links between the aircraft and the transportation of drugs from Laos to the Philippines. The aircraft had reportedly been configured for medical evacuation operations and was scheduled to collect a patient in Manila before continuing to Japan.
According to reports, the pilot also owns the company operating a private jet believed to be connected to the seizure. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement.
