Ong Kian Ming Resigns from DAP. Wish To Join KJ Now

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Former Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming has announced his resignation from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), effective today, ending a 14-year political career with the party.

In his resignation letter addressed to DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and national organising secretary Khoo Poay Tiong, Ong expressed gratitude for the opportunities given since joining in 2012. He highlighted his roles as Serdang MP (2013–2018), Bangi MP (2018–2022), Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (2018–2020), and member of the party’s Central Executive Committee.

“I especially want to thank Saudara Tony Pua for inviting me to join the party and for providing guidance on how to best serve the party and the country,” Ong wrote. He also thanked Lim Guan Eng for nominating him as a candidate and deputy minister during his tenure as DAP secretary-general.

Ong clarified he does not intend to join another political party or contest in GE16. Instead, he pledged to support Khairy Jamaluddin’s campaign if given a seat, and to continue serving Malaysia through his podcast Are We OK, advisory roles, and collaborations with like-minded individuals.
