Kuala Sentul assemblyman Jasri Jamaludin has invited PAS to field a candidate in the state constituency in the next general election.
Jasri, who is also Pahang Bersatu deputy chief, said the state party leadership welcomed PAS’ intention to contest in Kuala Sentul and Lepar, following remarks by Pahang PAS commissioner Rosli Abdul Jabar.
Jasri: PAS welcome to contest Kuala Sentul
He said PAS was welcome to contest both seats under its own party logo.
Apart from Kuala Sentul, the Lepar state seat is currently held by Pahang Bersatu chief Mohd Yazid Yunus.
Rosli had earlier said PAS had the right to field candidates in both constituencies following the breakdown of cooperation between PAS and Bersatu at the state level. He said the seats were won under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) banner in the 15th general election, with much of the campaign machinery comprising PAS members.
In August, Jasri and Yazid announced their support for Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and the state government.
At GE15, PN and Barisan Nasional each won 17 state seats before BN and Pakatan Harapan formed the state government. PN’s tally subsequently fell to 15 after two Bersatu assemblymen declared their support for the Pahang government.
