At the PAS Youth Assembly in Kota Bharu, delegates urged the party to take the lead in forging political cooperation at the federal level.
Kedah PAS Youth Chief Ilyas Ahmad stressed that PAS has enough qualified candidates to lead Putrajaya and should no longer concede the prime minister’s post to other parties.
Hadi Awang Says PAS Ready for GE16
“We don’t want to hear anymore that others should be prime minister. This time, PAS must be the main driver at the federal level,” he declared.
The call comes amid ongoing discussions about unity within Perikatan Nasional. Azmin Ali previously highlighted PAS’s role in uniting Muslims, while PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang confirmed the party is prepared for the 16th General Election (GE16), even if held earlier than scheduled.
Terengganu PAS Youth delegate Mukhlis Hasin echoed the sentiment, insisting PAS must lead unity efforts rather than act as a follower.
He warned against compromising PAS’s identity for the sake of unity, urging leaders to uphold truth and values.
Delegates also noted challenges in achieving unity, pointing out that grassroots members often support cooperation while senior leaders hesitate due to political considerations.
