Passengers Can Now Report Broken Bus Seat Belts with Photo Proof

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is urging express and tour bus passengers to report faulty seat belts through the MyJPJ app, with complaints supported by photos or videos and journey details. Kuala Lumpur JPJ director Hamidi Adam stressed the importance of seat belt use to reduce serious injuries.

During a recent enforcement operation at Gombak Toll Plaza, 23 passengers—20 locals and three foreigners—were fined for non-compliance. Some cited unawareness of the rule, which became mandatory on July 1. Two bus drivers also received notices. Hamidi emphasized that transport safety is a shared responsibility between passengers, operators, and enforcement authorities.
