Member of Parliament for Pendang, Datuk Awang Hashim, has questioned why Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not instructed the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to open investigation files or bring charges against Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Hashim believes that PM Anwar’s defence statement against the lawsuit filed by the Prime Minister, which names him as the sole defendant, was a political strategy and threat, rather than a criminal charge.
Awang made a statement, accusing the Prime Minister of defamation, during a media interview at the Parliament lobby on February 21. In response, Anwar has filed a lawsuit against Awang.
Datuk Awang Hashim has expressed doubt as to why Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not directed the police and MACC to investigate or charge Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Anwar had previously accused Zahid of being involved in the procurement of the Littoral Combat Ship and accepting bribes.
Hashim believes that Anwar’s defence statement against the Prime Minister’s lawsuit was a political threat, rather than a criminal charge. Awang has made a statement, accusing the Prime Minister of defamation, and Anwar has filed a lawsuit against Awang in response.
