For decades, the vicinity of Pudu mosque has been marred by the solicitation of sex workers, a concern for locals and mosque authorities alike. A long-serving employee of Masjid Jamek Alam Shah, Mior, who began working there in 1984, recalls the issue dating back to the 1970s.

The mosque’s Imam, Mohd Hanif Syakir Mohd Yusuf, acknowledges the problem, noting efforts by authorities to curb such activities have been short-lived. While the mosque is limited in its capacity to take serious action, it remains open to collaboration to resolve the issue, currently resorting to warning signs against immoral activities.
