New: Rafizi Says Minister Ramanan Lodged Police Report Against Him

#WEFUND, police report,

Bersama co-leader Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has claimed that the Rafizi police report over his allegation that a businessman gave RM9.5 million to a minister was lodged by Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan himself, Focus Malaysia reported.

Rafizi, who recorded his statement at the Bukit Aman police headquarters on Tuesday (Nov 3), made the revelation at a ceramah in Taman Rambai Jaya, in the Paya Rumput state constituency, that night, according to the report.

Minister lodged Rafizi police report

Rafizi said that when he exposed past scandals, ranging from 1MDB to Tabung Haji, the police reports against him were usually lodged by NGOs, Umno members or ministers’ aides.

Taking a swipe at Ramanan, the former PKR deputy president said he now understood why Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was fond of the minister, as Ramanan had taken the trouble to lodge the report personally, Focus Malaysia reported.

He added that it would have been easier for Ramanan to sue him instead of hiding behind the police force.

Second report by MACC

Rafizi, who hosts the Yang Berhenti Menteri (YBM) podcast, said his second surprise was that another police report against him had been lodged by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in March this year on behalf of its then chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki.

In an episode of the podcast, Rafizi had said that a report on Azam’s alleged ownership of shares in multiple companies was tabled in the Cabinet and was supposed to be made public, but was never released, according to Focus Malaysia.

Farhash injunction against Bloomberg

The former economy minister also spoke about businessman Datuk Seri Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, a former political aide to Anwar, who has obtained an injunction against Bloomberg over a report that has yet to be published.

According to Focus Malaysia, Farhash obtained the injunction on the grounds that the report was defamatory and could disrupt the nation’s peace. His lawyers from Messrs Ahmad Deniel, Ruben & Co were reported to have said that the draft article contained false, baseless and defamatory statements and allegations.

Bloomberg had contacted both Anwar and Farhash for comment on the report. Rafizi made claims about the contents of the unpublished article at the ceramah.

The case between Farhash and Bloomberg will be heard on Nov 16, two days after the Melaka state election, Focus Malaysia reported.
