During the Raya break, Malaysians flocked to reunite with family, but traffic summonses surged by 292%. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain noted a slight dip in road accidents but emphasized motorcyclists’ vulnerability.

He commended traffic officers for their efforts and drivers for their patience. “Fatalities stood at 119, a decrease of seven cases or 6% compared to 126 cases in the previous year,” he stated.
Despite the drop in accidents, motorcyclists remain at risk, with 79 deaths recorded during Op Selamat 22. Razarudin highlighted factors like fatigue and inadequate vehicle distance as contributors to accidents.
