Mohammad Agus Yusoff, the director-general of the Community Communications Department (J-Kom), has called on youths to reject political defamation ahead of the upcoming state elections, specifically pointing out PAS as a repeat offender.
Repeat Offender
Agus emphasized that elections should focus on contesting ideas and policies rather than spreading fake news and engaging in character assassination. He urged PAS, as an Islamist party, to set a positive example and refrain from making baseless accusations.
Reject PAS
Agus also highlighted the role of ulama in promoting goodness and gaining respect for Islam. He warned that spreading fake news is punishable under the Communications and Multimedia Act, emphasizing the importance of choosing a leader capable of uplifting Malaysia’s economy.
