KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — Umno president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has at least three options if he intends to challenge the Unity Government without waiting for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to act, said Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim.
Hassan explained that Zahid could withdraw Umno and Barisan Nasional MPs’ support for the government, direct Umno ministers to resign from the Cabinet, or table a no-confidence motion against Anwar when Parliament reconvenes on Oct 5.

He stressed that all options are available through parliamentary channels and do not require Anwar to dismiss Umno ministers or expel the party.
He added that the Unity Government is not a formal coalition but a loose arrangement, meaning parties can leave at any time. Hassan urged Zahid to avoid public threats, noting that while Zahid speaks to three million Umno members, the nation has 33 million citizens.
