KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — A Berita Harian commentary has drawn controversy after suggesting that Malaysians appearing to support Israel’s actions in Gaza should have their citizenship revoked. Writing under the “Belalang” column, the author condemned individuals who mocked volunteers of the Global Sumud Flotilla detained by Israeli forces.

The piece described such Malaysians as “blind in both eyes and hearts” and compared them to “snakes in a mat” poisoning society’s morals. The writer argued that while much of the world supports Palestine, a few Malaysians have chosen to side with Israel despite accusations of war crimes. The column also backed Colombia’s UN proposal for peacekeepers in Gaza and urged ASEAN to act during Trump’s upcoming visit.
