A 34-year-old man was arrested for offering a RM5 million reward on TikTok for the assassination of Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He offered a bounty of RM5 mil to whoever would cause harm to the PM and his cabinet members. When the video on TikTok started to go viral, it was apparently taken down. Some are asking why TikTok is not probed for allowing such videos on its platform.

From RM5 Mil to Insults
Another man, aged 37, was detained for insulting the Malaysian King on social media. Both were arrested in Kota Baru and are under investigation for offenses related to the Penal Code, Sedition Act 1948, and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Police cautioned against speculation and urged the public to be mindful of sensitive issues on social media to prevent disruptions to public order and safety.
