The search and rescue (SAR) operation for the sinkhole incident on Jalan Masjid India was abruptly halted on Saturday after nine days. Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), announced the decision following consultations with experts from various agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police, Fire and Rescue Department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Indah Water Konsortium, and others.
SAR Operation Halts
The halt was based on site findings and safety concerns for the rescue teams. DBKL has been tasked with recovery and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas and conducting utility mapping and soil structure studies across Kuala Lumpur.
