The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Sarawak has remanded a community leader for allegedly misappropriating RM455,000 in compensation funds. The man, in his 50s, was detained around 7 PM yesterday while giving a statement at the Bintulu MACC office.
Sarawak Leader Remanded for Misusing RM455,000 Compensation Funds
Initial investigations indicate the suspect misused compensation funds from a logging company between 2019 and 2023, meant for longhouse residents. MACC also seized approximately RM9,500 in cash and a mobile phone from the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009. The suspect has been remanded for five days.
