Senior Police Officer Nazri Now Charged with Murder in Tragic Schoolboy Case

Deputy Superintendent Nazri Abdul Razak, a senior police officer, has been tentatively charged with the murder of 17-year-old schoolboy Zaharif Affendi Zamrie. The charge is related to a car chase near the victim’s school in Meru, where Zaharif was killed.

No plea was recorded during the magistrate court hearing, as the case falls under the High Court’s jurisdiction. If convicted under Section 302 of the Penal Code, Nazri could face the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years, along with a minimum of 12 whippings. The court set February 7 for case mention, awaiting the chemist’s report.
