Singapore’s government has accused PAS leaders of attempting to influence its May 3 general election with divisive online posts. PAS treasurer Iskandar Abdul Samad supported a candidate, while Zulfikar Mohamad Shariff, a former detainee now an Australian citizen criticized Malay-Muslim MPs for not representing the Muslim community, a post reposted by Selangor PAS Youth chief Sukri Omar. Singapore’s authorities warned that such posts, urging racial and religious voting, threaten the nation’s harmony. The government, emphasizing its secular stance, restricted access to these posts and stressed that foreign interference in elections is prohibited under the Parliamentary Elections Act.
