SINGAPORE, Aug 1, 2026 — Gavin Lee’s Singapore Lions produced a resolute defensive display to hold regional giants Vietnam to a 0-0 draw in the ASEAN football championship at the My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi, on Friday (Jul 31).
The result keeps Singapore unbeaten with seven points from three matches, placing them atop Group A ahead of Indonesia, who defeated Timor Leste 3-0 earlier in the day. Vietnam, ranked 99th in FIFA standings compared to Singapore’s 148th, dominated the first half with 13 attempts on goal, but the Lions’ defense and goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud held firm.

Vietnam struck the crossbar late on, but the Lions held out for a valuable point. Singapore now prepare to face Indonesia at Jalan Besar Stadium in their final group match.
