New: Meta, Singapore Police Dismantle Millions of Scam Shell Pages

SINGAPORE, Sept 24, 2026 – Meta announced it had removed more than 3.6 million “shell pages” flagged by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in July, describing them as a new scam vector on Facebook and Instagram. These pages, which initially appeared harmless without ads or violating content, could be activated instantly for scam campaigns.

The takedown was part of a two‑year partnership between Meta and SPF, which has enabled proactive identification and removal of scam networks. Between January and June 2026, police tip‑offs led Meta to act against over 113,000 investment scam entities and 33,600 e‑commerce scam pages.

Meta also collaborates with SPF and the National Crime Prevention Council on public education, including the “One Step Ahead” campaign that has reached 1.6 million Singaporeans. Authorities continue urging users to enable security features such as two‑factor authentication and passkeys to safeguard accounts against fraud.
