Ridhuan Tee Labels DAP “Enemies of Islam” After Loke’s ‘Resignation’

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23, 2026, Outspoken preacher Ridhuan Tee Abdullah branded the Democratic Action Party (DAP) “harbi” — a term in Islamic jurisprudence referring to non-Muslims considered at war with Islam — after Transport Minister Anthony Loke resigned but four other DAP ministers remained in cabinet.

Ridhuan, a Chinese Muslim convert known for polarising views on race and religion, dismissed the partial resignation as “hypocritical” and declared it haram for Muslims to vote for DAP. His remarks came amid controversy over Najib Razak’s conditional pardon, which triggered criticism of DAP’s stance.

The preacher’s use of “harbi” is significant: unlike “kafir,” which denotes non-believers. By invoking this term, Ridhuan framed DAP not merely as political opponents but as adversaries.

His comments intensified political crossfire, with Perikatan Nasional and PAS accusing DAP of insincerity, while UMNO leaders claimed the resignation disrespected the King’s prerogative. DAP leaders countered, urging UMNO figures to resign instead, highlighting ongoing tensions within Malaysia’s unity government.
