Hundreds of shoppers were evacuated from Suria KLCC mall yesterday after a fire alarm rang around 8:10 PM. Eyewitnesses reported smoke in the food court and motorcycle parking area. The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department responded swiftly, arriving by 8:12 PM. They discovered a small fire in an emergency stairway, caused by burning boxes in a trash container, which was extinguished by 8:45 PM. No injuries occurred, but evacuees experienced confusion, with some initially ignoring the alarm. The mall was declared safe for re-entry by 9:35 PM and resumed normal operations shortly after.
